Description

The Robert Novak Journalism Awards Dinner celebrates its 25th anniversary by coming to New York City for the first time. The dinner, a grand event that brings together top journalists and rising stars of the next generation, will be held Thursday, Sept. 27 at the Metropolitan Club of New York. Join us as we showcase the projects of our 2018 Novak Fellowship winners and recognize prominent journalists including P.J. O’Rourke, Andrew Ferguson, Paul Gigot and the late Joseph Rago.

Dinner Proceeds Support the Novak Fellowship Program and the Joseph Rago Memorial Fellowship for Excellence in Journalism

Andrew Ferguson, national correspondent at The Weekly Standard, will present P.J. O’Rourke with the 2018 Thomas L. Phillips Career Achievement Award for his contributions to the field of journalism. O’Rourke, a bestselling author and America’s leading political satirist, will deliver the evening’s keynote remarks.

The evening also honors the life and legacy of Joseph Rago, a Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial writer for The Wall Street Journal, who died last year at the age of 34. Paul Gigot, editorial page editor of the Journal, will deliver remarks on Joe’s contributions to journalism.

In memory of Joe, the Rago family and The Fund for American Studies have established the Joseph Rago Memorial Fellowship for Excellence in Journalism. The program’s inaugural fellow will be introduced at the dinner.

For a quarter-century, the Robert Novak Journalism Fellowship Program has fostered the leaders of the next generation of journalism. Alumni include reporters and editors at the nation’s top publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and National Review, as well as the editors-in-chief of The Weekly Standard and Reason magazine – Steve Hayes and Katherine Mangu-Ward. We hope you will join us on Sept. 27 for a celebration of what we’ve achieved – and the even greater things still to come.
