About this event
The St. Clair Shores Waterfront Environmental Committee (SCSWEC), in conjunction with the Jefferson Yacht Club (JYC), continues to lead the city's annual community effort in protecting its beaches and shoreline against water pollution along Lake St. Clair. The Clean-up celebrates its 25th year in continuous effort. We postponed this year's clean-up due to the pandemic, and we are pleased to announce the Clean-up will now take place on Sunday, September 13, 2020. Our commitment to promoting better water quality, a cleaner, safer lake, and a greater public awareness remains at the forefront of our civil responsibilities in waterfront stewardship.
Targeted areas:
- Veterans Memorial Park & Beach
- Blossom Heath Park & Beach
- Chapaton Retention Basin shoreline at the foot of Nine Mile Road
- Champine Park at the foot of Twelve Mile Road
- Homeowner Association beaches, shorelines, and canal areas
Many St. Clair Shores businesses have donated goods for this event, including We Are Here Foundation, Jefferson Yacht Club (JYC), and Advanced Aquatics Dive Shop. We welcome everyone to join us for the Lake St. Clair Celebration at JYC at 12:00 p.m., following our morning's efforts – music, food, and drinks provided.
The SCSWEC has arranged reasonable physical safeguards relative to the COVID-19 virus and is limited the event to 100 participants.
