About this event

The 24th Annual Marie C. Malaro Excellence in Research and Writing Award Symposium honors the achievements of Professor Emerita Malaro, former Director of the GWU Museum Studies Program. Graduate students of the award present their winning papers alongside the keynote speaker’s talk.

This year’s guest speaker is Kaywin Feldman, the Director of the National Gallery of Art. Her talk is entitled “Museums in Uncompromising Times.”

Congratulations to the student winners of the 2022 Malaro Award:

• Avery Barth - "New Archives, New Practices: Exploring the Digital Transgender Archive"

• Norman Storer Corrada - "Austerity and Access: The Ongoing Challenges of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture National Collection"

• Haley Higinbotham - "The Utilization of Technology to Show the Polychromy of Ancient Art"
