Fri, Apr 21, 2017, 1:30 PM – Sun, Apr 23, 2017, 12:00 PM CDT
The Annual Conference on Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors is the only event of its kind in the world. Top BFRB experts, community leaders, and changemakers will guide 500 individuals, families, clinicians, and researchers through a weekend of education, community building, and healing.
Learn effective tools for emotional and physical recovery. Meet hundreds of other people who share your problems and understand. Cultivate support and networking contacts, and experience the relief of reduced shame and stigma. Build your own program for recovery from a comprehensive schedule of over 60 expert-led seminars, covering topics like advances in treatment and research, behavioral management, self-help, and emotional healing. Special workshops are offered for specific BFRBs as well as for kids, teens, and parents. A continuing education track for licensed professionals offers exclusive opportunities to learn the latest in treatment advances from expert clinicians and treatment providers--through a weekend of education, inspiration, support, and most importantly: healing.
NEW this year!
PRE-CONFERENCE on ComB: 3-hour intensive on CBT-based treatment (Adults 18+ only) with Dr. Marla Deibler and Dr. Renae Reinardy
When: Friday, April 21, 9am - 12pm
Cost: $150.00 (does not include conference registration, which is required to attend this pre-con)
For adults with a BFRB, this special add-on to the conference is a unique opportunity to develop a personalized plan for recovery with two of the top treatment providers for BFRBs. Utilizing the ComB model, participants will gain new perspective on the role each individual's BFRB serves in their life, understanding why, where, and how a person engages in their BFRB so that individualized interventions can be selected to help the person achieve what they want to achieve without engaging in the behavior. The comprehensive behavioral (ComB) model, developed by Dr. Charles Mansueto and his colleagues, is based on the assumption that a person engages in their BFRB because it meets one or more needs in the individual (e.g., helping to relax, to fall asleep, or to feel like a goal was accomplished). This three-hour intensive is limited to 40 participants and is offered as an add-on to the conference itself--please make sure to register for the conference if you register for this pre-con.
