Description

24 Hours of Hockey for Habitat Presented by OhioHealth Chiller

You have been invited to participate in the first ever 24 Hours of Hockey for Habitat Presented by OhioHealth Chiller!

June 16-17, 2017 @ Chiller North

The puck drop ceremony will begin at 6:30 PM on Friday the 16th and the final buzzer will sound at 6:30 PM on Saturday the 17th, immediately followed by a celebration with food and drinks and then some much deserved rest!

Spectators are welcome at any time throughout the event (especially encouraged for the puck drop ceremony and end celebration) at no charge.

The goal of the event is to raise money that will help Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio empower Veterans in Central Ohio to save the dream of homeownership through our home repair program.

We will have a maximum of 44 skaters and 6 goalies that will be split into two teams to play a 24 hour continuous hockey game. The teams will consist of 22 skaters and 3 goalies each that will alternate "sessions" over the 24 hours allowing players to rest, eat, and hydrate.

What we provide:

1. Each player will receive a custom commemorative jersey

2. Full nutritional support with food and beverage provided the entire duration of the event

3. Medical supervision and massage between sessions

4. Space to put a blow up mattress or sleeping mat to get some rest in between sessions

5. Swag bag

6. Guest coaches, referees, media attention, and many other surprises to make the 24 hours an unforgettable experience

7. Prizes for the top fundraisers

8. An amazing memory, fun times with friends, and an opportunity to tell people you were part of the first 24 hour hockey game in Columbus, Ohio!

What you provide:

1. A commitment to raise or donate a minimum of $500 (You can blow this out of the water!) to Habitat for Humanity's 24 Hours of Hockey for Habitat. We will give you every tool and resource to make raising the dollars an easy and fun process. Your $50 "ticket" donation will be put towards your fundraising goal. Once you have completed your registration click "YES" to create your CrowdRise fundraising page, as this is what you will use for your fundraising efforts.

2. Yourself for the full 24 hours! You should expect to be playing for about 12 hours total

We will need all skaters to provide their valid USA Hockey number and other information to order jerseys and other swag. Looking forward to an amazing event!

FAQs

How much does it cost to play?

Each player will set the their own fundraising goal, but will guarantee the first $500. If the player does not hit the $500 minimum goal, they agree to donate the difference to get to $500 as we have limited spots available in the game. The player will not be held responsible if they set a goal higher then $500 and fall short. Example: If you set a goal of $2,500 and raise $2,300 you do not need to make up the difference.

Your initial donation of $50 to sign up will be applied to your $500 goal.

We encourage you to aim high for what you think will be meaningful for you. Every penny raised will go to Habitat for Humanity - MidOhio's amazing work, allowing them to keep veterans in their homes. There will be prizes for the top fundraisers!

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

You can contact Kate Ames at Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio with any questions you may have at kames@habitatmidohio.org or 740-405-7877.

Do I need to bring my own food and water?

No, 24 Hours of Hockey for Habitat will take care of all of your medical, nutritional, and hydration needs for the entirity of the event. You can just worry about playing hockey, having fun, and making a difference!

Are my donations tax deductable?

Yes, because you are supporting Habitat for Humanity, all donations made by you to your fundraising page will be tax deductible, as is any gift to a 501c3 Charity. (Consult your tax advisor) Any person that makes a donation to your fundraising page will recieve a thank you letter for their donation.
