Join Laura for a 24 hour indoor rowing challenge to celebrate the start of the Atlantic Campaigns Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge 2016.
This challenge is to raise money for her Atlantic rowing challenge next year and to raise money for Centrepoint - the UK's leading charity for homeless young people, supporting 16-25 year olds into a home and a job.
Sign up as a pair and row continuously for 24 hours - 2 hours on, 2 hours off. This is what ocean rowing life is like, and what Laura (and her new team) will be doing on the Atlantic ocean for 50 days next year.
The location is The PT Barn, Langford Court, Langford Bridge Farm, Ongar Road, Kelvedon Hatch, Brentwood, Essex CM15 0LB.
The space is big enough for lots of rowers, allowing us to relax next to our teammates, it has WC's and facilities to help us with nutrtion and hydration.
If you would like to take part but cannot make the venue or date, you are welcome to do this challlenge virtually. Your goodie bag and finishers t-shirt will be sent out in the post. We just need a video or picture as proof.
The conditions will be silimar to that on the ocean, so during the day, we will be listening to music, and during the evening, we will row in the dark (head torches if necessary) with our team mate sleeping (if they can) next to their team mates.
It willl be difficult to sleep but it will also be difficult on a boat being thrown about in the middle of the sea.
Entry is £35.00 per person (plus £2.76 booking fee) which includes:
- Supplements and Hydration
This is a perfect opportunity to join in something incredible and really build mental and physical strength but in the comfort of a controlled environment.

What do I need to bring?
Supplements - hot drinks, hydration packs, squash
Sleeping bag & pillow
Head torch & spare batteries
Gloves - in case your hands get sore
There will be a selection of nutrition and supplements supplied by our sponsors. These are more of a snack and morale boost, so please make sure to bring your own food to keep you fuelled.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
The PT Barn has lots of free parking. It is quire far away from any shops so please come prepared with food.
Do I need my own rowing machine?
No. A Concet2 Rowing Machine is provided as part of your entry fee. All you need to bring is you, your determination and your food and suuplements.
If you'd like to being your own rowing machine, you are welcome to do so. Please inform Laura.
Can I do the challenge by myself?
Ideally this event is done in a team of 2. The idea being is that doing the 2 hours shifts messes with sleep patterns and once you stop rowing, it is quite a challege to get back on 2 hours later. We believe this will be tougher than competeing it solo. Doing it as a pair will also promote team work and communcation.
Although, this is your event. If you would like to do it solo, we would rather you join in then not do it at all.
What will happen in the evening?
As the sun goes down, we will row in the dark. Please bring your head torches and spare batteries for this. This will be the tough part. There will be no music. It will be hard! But that's the bit that will make us stronger. When the sun rises, the music will start again.
When you want to rest, you will rest next to your team mate. Yes, it will be difficult to sleep next to the 'whosh' of a rowing machine but think how difficult it would be to sleep on a boat being thown around in the middle of the ocean.
