Event description

Description

The International Peace Institute and the Conflict Prevention and Peace Forum are pleased to invite you to a launch of a report on drugs, sustainable development, and the drive for policy coherence. This event will take place at IPI on Thursday, February 22, from 1:00pm to 2:45pm.

How can drug policy help or hinder member states’ efforts to achieve the SDGs? This policy forum will examine the findings following a year of work by a group of researchers and policy makers—convened by the Conflict Prevention and Peace Forum and the International Peace Institute—on ways in which the drug policy agenda overlaps with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The paper argues that we need to change the ways in which we measure drug policy success to accurately account for the impact this has on society as a whole. Doing so through the lens of the 2030 Agenda will not only result in better, more accurate drug metrics, it will also map the areas where drug policy and specific Sustainable Development Goals intersect.
