About this event

The Hoover Institution Library & Archives is excited to reopen the historic Hoover Tower rotunda and exhibition galleries to the public!

Hours are Monday through Friday, 10am-4pm. Reservations for our galleries do not include tickets to the Lou Henry Hoover Observation Deck. The Lou Henry Hoover Observation Deck is now open to Stanford Affiliates; reserve tickets here. Please continue to check our website or contact the Stanford Visitor Center for more information.

The latest exhibition, Fanning the Flames: Propaganda in Modern Japan, showcases curated selections of rare nishiki-e (multicolored woodblock prints), kamishibai (paper plays), and other compelling material from the collections of the Hoover Institution Library & Archives on the history of modern Japanese propaganda, encompassing the Meiji Era (1868–1912) through to the Pacific theater of War II (1941–45). The exhibition is part of a multi-part project that encompasses an interactive online exhibition, illustrated publication, and speaker series. Explore the online portal here. Visitors can also enjoy the reopened Hoover@100 exhibition which explores the history of the Hoover Institution and its founders Herbert and Lou Henry Hoover.
