21st Century Storytelling Workshop with The Builders Association
Fri, Mar 17, 2017, 10:00 AM – Sat, Mar 18, 2017, 1:00 PM EDT
Designed for artists working in a variety of disciplines, participants in this 1.5 day interactive session will deepen their understanding of various media tools available to performance-makers, and explore the narrative challenges of working across media. The day will include an overview of the OBIE-award winning performance and media company The Builders Association and an introduction to the company’s unique collaborative crossmedia devising process. Participants will also get an overview of some specific tools available to them such as Isadora, Max/Jitter, Watch Out and Ableton, and stage some basic uses of these tools in small groups. Each group collaborates on a sketch which is used as a springboard for further group exploration and discussion.
The workshop is facilitated by members of The Builders Association including artistic director Marianne Weems, writer and performer Moe Angelos, and video and interactive media designer Larry Shea.
