Description

The 21st Century for All Education Conference, an initiative led by the Education Committee of the Brooklyn NAACP and the Sankofa Global Project, will take place at Weeksville Heritage Center in Brooklyn, New York, Thursday, November 7 and Friday, November 8, 2019. The event will serve as a catalyst for schools, educators, students, families, and community leaders committed to connecting to and inspiring learners.

The focus of the Conference:

  • Examine the history of Education in New York City

  • Elevate the Intersections of family, culture, and community in schools

  • Evaluate Community Partnerships in Education

  • Proactive, interdisciplinary & project based workshops

  • Disrupting the Ableism Narrative in Education

  • Civic Engagement - Participatory Democracy

  • The role of HBCU’s and the NAACP in Education

The 21st Century Education for All Conference in Brooklyn is your opportunity to connect with a diverse, engaged community. The education philosophy of revolves around project based activities. Workshop presenters will spend at least 85% of their time with interactive engagement.

The Brooklyn NAACP Education Committee advocates for effective, accountable and accessible public school systems, adequate and equitable school funding, promotion of culturally relevant curriculum, and the active involvement of parents in the education of their children.
