Event description

Description

This training is an overview of the 5 key components of literacy. The importance of building phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension skills will be explained, and connections to ASD will be made. This training is suitable for parents of children who are learning to read (on grade level 3 or below) rather than reading to learn (more advanced students). While some practical strategies will be provided, this session should be considered an introduction to the very complex topic of literacy in children with ASD. Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide childcare at this training. Any families bringing children will be asked to reschedule to a future training date.
