Event Details

Sit down and enjoy a quintessentially Pacific Northwest, four-course meal made with seasonal ingredients from local farms. Learn, with Chef Cody Castiglia and Dr. Lisa Price, how food can taste fantastic and be health promoting at the same time. Chef Cody will walk you through a menu inspired by cuisines from communities around the world that have low incidences of typical western diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. These communities, called Blue Zones, frequently have people living well past 100 years of age. So, come and raise a glass to health and longevity in 2018! Vegetarian with fish.

Instructors: Chef Cody Castiglia of Della Terra Catering and Dr. Lisa Price of Northwest Natural Health

Cody was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. His father, grandparents, and many other family members worked in the restaurant industry, so one could say Cody was born to be a chef. After studying the culinary arts, as well as hotel and restaurant management, Cody worked at a number of restaurants that emphasized the use of local, seasonal ingredients. His background ranges from Southwest to Sicilian to Sushi, but his culinary philosophy is to merely gather the finest local ingredients in their peak season, and treat them in a way that best suits them. Cody has spent the last ten years pushing himself to learn and grow as a chef, typically working two or three jobs at a time. He has worked under some of the most elite chefs in the country and is eager to share the knowledge he has gained.

Dr. Lisa Price, MS, ND is an alumnus of Bastyr University and a doctor with the Northwest Natural Health clinic. She specializes in integrative cancer care and works with oncologists and patients in several cancer care centers including Swedish Cancer Center. She is also an author of the book, Cooking through Cancer Treatment to Recovery (Demos Health Inc., NYC; 2105), a radio host of 'The Feed' on KKNW 1150 AM, adjunct faculty at Bastyr University, and a National Institute of Health Research Fellow (2005-2010). Dr. Price is passionate about using culinary nutrition for her patients during cancer treatment and beyond.

Registration is required in advance for culinary programs. All proceeds benefit educational programming at 21 Acres and initiatives related to accelerating social change toward more sustainable ways of growing, eating and living that protect the environment while supporting a better quality of life.
