Event Details

Become a wizard in the kitchen with this 3-part crash course! You’ll learn how to turn whole, seasonal ingredients into tasty dishes not with magic but with knife, stove top cooking, and baking skills. Chefs Alice and Erica will show you just how fun it can be to master this magical and tasty craft! We’ll be whipping up so many classic dishes, but for now we'll just name a few... prepare to cook and eat: crepes, potato leek bisque with fresh croutons, falafel, creative vinaigrettes and salads, sweet and savory pies, and much more! Using local ingredients sourced by 21 Acres, students will gain the practical skills necessary to cast delicious spells. This class is intended for kids ages 7-12. Class prices include a meal. Accommodations for dietary restrictions upon request.

Series takes place over the course of three Saturdays: October 13th, 20th, and 27th from noon to 2:30pm

Difficulty Level: 1 fork; open to participants of all skill levels

Instructors: Alice Carli & Erica Weisman of Seattle Cucina Cooking School

Co-founders of the Seattle Cucina Cooking School, Alice and Erica, teach in local schools, community centers and after-school programs in the greater Seattle Area. They lead creative, hands-on classes to improve students' nutrition, how they relate to their families and community, and how they participate in sustainable food systems. They joined 21 Acres' culinary program in 2018.

Alice received her public health degree from the University of Washington and is interested in the intersection of cooking, nutrition, and childhood development. She's been an avid cook for the past 10 years, especially for friends and family!

Until recently, Erica worked as a professional cook, most recently at the James Beard Award-nominated restaurant, Canlis. She also managed a food cooperative and loves cooking with fellow devotees to bring the greater Seattle community delicious, wholesome food.


Registration is required in advance for culinary programs. All proceeds benefit educational programming at 21 Acres and initiatives related to accelerating social change toward more sustainable ways of growing, eating and living that protect the environment while supporting a better quality of life.

The more the merrier! Our classes are twice as much fun when they’re full. 21 Acres reserves the right to cancel any class, camp, or event that fails to meet the minimum enrollment numbers required for instructor participation. 21 Acres may also cancel events due to chef/instructor illness or inclement weather.
