About this event

20th Anniversary Walk of Mie's Trail image

I-Park is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Mie's Trail: A Conversation with the Gravel Pit and is pleased to welcome the public for a self-guided meditative walk on Saturday, October 15 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Visitors will have an opportunity to meet Belgian/American artist Mie Preckler, currently living in Oakland, CA.

Mie created her trail and the related Gravel Pit Preserve in 2002, I-Park’s second year in operation. She has returned to I-Park to continue the conversation every year since to tend the trail and its five major “gardens:” the Mound, the Bowl, the Cypress Garden, the Funnel and the Spruce Bluff. Mie will offer insights into its evolution, from concept to creation, and how she related to the land and how the land has responded to her sensitive intervention over the years.

Visitors are welcome to bring along a picnic lunch, pull up a patch of grass and enjoy the outdoors.

Due to the fragility of the artworks and certain natural features at I-Park, pets are not permitted on the I-Park grounds.

The event is family-friendly and FREE, however, reservations in advance are REQUIRED. A suggested donation of $20 for the 20th anniversary will support the ongoing maintenance of I-Park's art and nature trails. For additional information, write events@i-park.org or call 860-306-0636.

Important: When you register for this event, you will be agreeing to our Visitor Code of Conduct and Photo Release.

We look forward to celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Mie's Trail: A Conversation with the Gravel Pit with you!
