MJE JANUARY GUEST SPEAKER SERIES for 20s & 30s

Join Young Jewish professionals in their 20s and 30s Mondays@8PM in January for a special guest speaker series in interview with Rabbi Mark Wildes. A Q+A session will follow to allow for questions and comments from the audience.

David Goldstein, Journalist, Author and Sports Executive

Honor MLK Day with a chance to hear the incredible behind the scenes true stories of African American professional basketball players in Israel.

In his recently published book, "Alley-Oop to Aliyah: African American Hoopsters in the Holy Land," David Goldstein explores the intersections of race, religion, identity, sports and Israeli culture. A discussion on immigration, religion, politics, and how players’ lives were changed by their experiences in Israel.

Bios:
JODI WEINSTEIN
Jodi Weinstein, is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist in New York City originally from Chicago, Illinois. She received her Bachelor’s and Master's Degrees in Nutrition, Food Studies and Dietetics from New York University. Until 2011, Jodi was the Clinical Nutrition Coordinator at The Tisch Cancer Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital where she worked closely with all types of cancer patients. She also led a comprehensive weight management class at a fitness center. Additionally, Jodi wrote a book called “Tell Me What to Eat Before, During and After Cancer Treatment,” and has been interviewed as a nutrition expert for television and newspapers.


CHAIM GROSS
Chaim Gross is the Founder of The Kosher App. The story of the app is the classic entrepreneur story: identify everyday problem, dream up solution. Chaim was shopping in Trader Joe’s, trying to figure out if something was kosher and knew there had to be a better way. The adventure began. Take 12,000 pictures, integrate computer vision and machine learning, and build on the foundation of sleepless nights The Kosher App was born. In addition to helping folks navigate the Kosher food landscape, Chaim is the SVP of Product at Zeno Media, a company with a user base of over 5 million listeners that brings international radio to immigrants. He is a self-taught programmer and graphic designer.

DAVID GOLDSTEIN
David is the Chief Operating Officer of U SPORTS (the Canadian equivalent of the NCAA). He is also an adjunct professor of sports law at the University of Toronto, and he lectures on the topic at his alma mater, Osgoode Hall Law School (York University).

A graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, David profiled NBA players for more than a decade in a regular sports feature for the Cincinnati Enquirer, and from 2002 to 2003 he also wrote for SHARE, a weekly African Canadian and Caribbean newspaper in Toronto.

ISAIAH ROTHSTEIN
Isaiah is a songwriter and serves as the Rabbi-in-residence for Hazon. Growing up in a multi-racial Chabad family in NY, Isaiah is pulled towards building platforms for Jews of all backgrounds to celebrate their identities and affinities – together – with the rest of community.
Isaiah attended Binghamton University followed by Yeshiva University for his masters in social work and rabbinic ordination. During his spare time, Isaiah enjoys bringing movement to strings, things, and people at the Union Street Sanctuary, a community magnet for spiritual innovation, or with his band Zayah. Isaiah currently lives in Brooklyn, NY.
