About this event
After the event was on hiatus since 2020, baseball friends and fans of all ages will gather at the wildly popular St. Paul Baseball Old Timers' Hot Stove League fundraising banquet -- to celebrate the great game of baseball, as well as relationships to which the game has led. (Proceeds from the banquet benefit local youth baseball and other charitable organizations, such as Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul.)
As part of the Minnesota Twins' Winter Caravan, the Old Timers' Banquet is truly "Where Old Friends Meet!" Big league stars of today, yesterday and tomorrow will be present, as well as sports celebrities of the Twin Cities ...
Being emceed this year by Minnesota Twins' Radio Network Studio Host and Play-By-Play personality, Kris Atteberry, the head table will, once again, be loaded with notable speakers and guests. Confirmed guests / speakers include Dan Gladden (Twins Radio Play-By-Play / Analyst; two-time World Series Champion and Twins HOF member), St. Paul area native Louie Varland (current Twins Pitcher, 2021 & 2022 Twins Minor League Pitcher of the Year), Dave St. Peter (current Twins President & CEO), Thad Levine (current Twins Sr. VP and General Manager), Jerry Bell (Executive Board Chair, retired President and member of the Twins HOF), Jim Rantz (retired Director of Minor Leagues and Twins HOF member) -- along with Derek Sharrer (Executive VP & General Manager of the St. Paul Saints), and John Anderson (Head Coach of the MN Golden Gophers). Old Timers Member, Fr. Dan Haugan (Pastor of Lumen Christi Catholic Community in St. Paul), will deliver the pre-dinner invocation. Additional guests to be announced! TC Bear might even make a guest appearance!
This year's honored Older Timer, Pete Bradt, will also receive special recognition. In addition, the 2022 and 2021 4th District American Legion MVPs, Justin Hanson (2021, Rosetown, Post 542), Leo Fleischhacker (2022, Tri-City Red Post 513) and Evan Fischer (2022, Rosetown, Post 542) will be honored with the Klark-Killen Memorial Award.
A fabulous dinner will be served -- including Caesar Salad, Rolls & Butter, Manhattan Strip Steak, Boursin-Buttermilk Mashed Yukan Potatoes, Vegetable Medley, Dessert Cake, Coffee (regular, decaf) or Tea.
An alternate vegetarian option is available (Cavatappi Pasta: roasted garlic, cipollini onions, sun-dried-tomatoes, and fresh herbs in a white-wine cream sauce); if applicable, please notify us ASAP through the CONTACT LINK AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE, so that your vegetarian dinner can be arranged with the venue.
- Batting Practice (social hour) begins: 5:30 pm
- Game Time (dinner and program): 7:00 pm
- A Silent Auction, featuring a wide-variety of sports memorabilia, will also be available as well, beginning during the social hour.
- An audience Question & Answer session with the head-table guests -- along with a door-prize drawing -- will conclude the evening. All attendees may enter the FREE door-prize drawing at the registration table in the lobby upon arrival.
Please join us for this great evening, in celebration of America's game!
FAQs
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
This is an event for ALL ages (although the speakers will be gearing their comments more toward an adult audience.) A separate children's meal option / ticket is not available, however.
A cash bar, serving alcoholic beverages, will be available for adults with proper ID. Please remember to drink responsibly!
What about parking options at the event?
Free lot parking is available on-site. The main parking lot is directly in front of the main entrance. Overflow parking is available in a lower lot.
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Please leave a message on the banquet info telephone line (651-379-2325) and your call will be returned -- or scroll further down this page and use the CONTACT button link to send an email to event organizers.
What's the refund policy? Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?
While no refunds can be issued, physical tickets may be physically transferred / given to another person, should you be unable to attend. (If you receive your ticket from another person who ordered a ticket for themselves on-line and then cannot attend, please make sure to check-in at the reception desk, to indicate the name of the guest that you are replacing.)
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration isn't my own name?
Yes. If someone ordered multiple tickets as part of their order (and included you as part of their order), that person's name will appear on all of the electronic tickets that he or she ordered.
Should I bring my printed electronic ticket to the event?
Yes.
Due to Covid-19, are there special protocols?
For your own protection and that of others, masks are recommended -- but optional; it is also recommended that guests be fully vaccinated and boostered. Dinner tables are anticipated to be set for 8-12 guests each -- which might include persons who are not necessarily in your own party.
