2023 Longstreet Society Seminar, Second Manassas

The Longstreet Society Annual Seminar will be 6-8 October 2023 in Manassas, Virginia. The focus will be the 2nd Manassas Campaign.

The event will begin on Friday afternoon 6 October for a tour of Chinn Ridge led by Scott Patchan. The group will meet at 1:30 PM at the Manassas National Battlefield Visitors Center, 6511 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA 20109, and carpool to nearby Chinn Ridge for a two-hour hike and discussion.

Saturday morning, our bus tour begins at 8:00 AM departing from the Holiday Inn Manassas Battlefield, 10424 Balls Ford Road, Manassas, VA, 20109. The Saturday bus tour led by Hank Elliott will focus on James Longstreet’s approaches to the Manassas Battlefield in August of 1862.

Participants should dress appropriately for the given weather that day and expect walks of ½ mile at each stop. You are welcome to bring a folding chair with you on the tour. Lunch, drinks, and snacks will be provided on the bus tour. The bus is expected to return to the Hotel at approximately 4:00 PM.

Please note that dinner Saturday night is on your own with many options available nearby. The seminar hotel has a full-service restaurant serving dinner. Our Saturday evening program resumes at 7:15 PM at the Holiday Inn Meeting Room. Kevin Pawlak will discuss James Longstreet’s relationship with Robert E. Lee.

Sunday morning at 10:00 AM, we will meet at the Bristow Station-Kettle Run Battlefield Heritage Park for a guided tour and discussion. The Bristow Station Battlefield parking lot is located at corner of Iron Brigade Unit Avenue and 10th Alabama Way, Bristow, Virginia, 20136.

Event tickets are $125 before September 1 and $140 after September 1. Our tour bus seats are limited to the first 50 people to register.
