We invite you to attend our 3rd International Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy Conference, dedicated to finding safe and effective treatments for all forms of LGMD.  Patients and families are central to this conference and every LGMD patient and caregiver are greatly encouraged to attend to help shine the light on the vast number of patients living with LGMD.  We are pleased to be working closely with GRASP LGMD, which is a consortium of leading neurologists internationally who will collaborate at our event along with major biotech companies on the cutting edge of emerging research.  The overall mission of this conference is to provide momentum to developing treatments by bringing together key stakeholders in the field.

Event tickets are non-refundable after purchase.  Each individual attending the event will need to register through this link. (Ages 12 and up)

**There will also be a virtual option to live stream all the general conference sessions. Virtual tickets will go on sale later in the year.

Conference Information

When: Friday, October 27th - Sunday, October 29th, 2023                                         

Where: GRAND HYATT WASHINGTON

Onsite registration and check in for conference begins on Friday (10/27) from 3:00 - 5:00 pm

Official conference begins Friday evening at 6:30 pm with a reception to welcome all attendees. Patient advocacy booths will be available for a meet-and-greet.

Financial Assistance for Patients and Families

Ticket costs have been reduced for early bird registration to help patients and families by the Speak Foundation (ticket includes free reception Friday evening, lunch and dinner Saturday, and lunch on Sunday for just $25.00)  The cost of your hotel accommodation is not covered by the conference.  However, we are glad to announce there are a limited number of financial/travel stipends available at $500 per family.  To be considered for a travel/hotel stipend, you must purchase our discounted early bird registration. Those who apply early will be considered first. You will have an opportunity to apply for the stipend in the purchase process for your ticket.  Priority will be given to those traveling, requiring hotel accommodation, and airfare.

Eligible applicants will receive notification by July 31, 2023 or earlier if they are eligible for a stipend. Checks will be picked up at the conclusion of the conference on site and you must be in attendance to be eligible. For more information, email lgmdconference@gmail.com.

Hotel Reservations & Info

Please keep in mind that there are a limited number of ADA accessible room with roll-in showers at the Hyatt. After you purchase your ticket, you will receive an email with the link to reserve your room at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. A reduced rate room block has been provided for attendees for $249/night (not including taxes/fees).

The Grand Hyatt is convenient with a metro station located at the hotel to make travel easy. All the nation's best attractions are within minutes of the hotel location with multiple hotels nearby for overflow. ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Welcome to The Speak Foundation. We are the first patient-led organization for muscular dystrophy, established in 2008. The mission of the Speak Foundation is to proved a voice for those living with limb-girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMD) and other rare forms of neuromuscular diseases (NMDs). In collaboration with other LGMD foundations, we held the first National Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy Conference in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A., in September 2019.
