Place Matters: Celebrate Downtown KC

Downtown Kansas City is a thriving mixed-use neighborhood attracting a young, educated, and diverse workforce drawn to Downtown’s vibrancy and endless opportunities for social connection. It’s the fastest-growing residential neighborhood in both Kansas City and the entire region. Our renaissance has been powered by an incredible influx of young, educated residents drawn to Downtown’s vibrancy and ample opportunities for social connection. A thriving arts scene, as well as new restaurants and retail, have significantly added to the vibrancy and exponentially increased the volume of pedestrians on Downtown sidewalks throughout the day and into the night. Nearly all of our new development continues a trend of mixing uses and increasing opportunities for connection. The interactivity of these diverse uses has accounted to a large degree for Downtown’s success and will be the key to a full revival.

With this year’s theme “Place Matters” we will highlight catalytic projects, from the South Loop Link to the Greenline to the KC Ballpark District - and provide insight from the key players; as well as transformative strategies ranging from making Downtown livable for all, while nurturing a prosperous, innovative and creative economy.
