About this event
Join us as internationally-recognized faculty discuss major advancements in amputation surgery, osseointegration, and prosthetic technology. Topics will include osseointegration amputation reconstruction, nerve reconstruction, and soft- tissue contouring surgery, as well as post-operative patient care, rehabilitation best practices, developments in prosthetics, amputee challenges and more.
Target Audience | This activity is targeted to limb lengthening and complex reconstruction surgeons, prosthetists, pediatric orthopaedic surgeons, orthopaedic trauma surgeons, musculoskeletal tumor and oncology surgeons, physical therapists, podiatrists and physician assistants. Residents, fellows, nurse practitioners, surgical technicians, and medical students can also benefit from attending this activity.
Learning Objectives | HSS continuing medical education activities are intended to improve the quality of patient care and safety. At the completion of the course, the participant should be able to:
- Describe and recognize transcutaneous osseointegrated prosthetic systems (TOPS) for rehabilitation following limb loss, as well as review the latest in prosthetic technology to provide optimal options to amputee patients.
- Review evidence-based updates in osseointegration (OI) amputation reconstruction and discuss concepts to assess for applicability in practice.
- Discuss best practices for rehabilitation following OI amputation surgery and determine when certain rehabilitation strategies are indicated for use in practice.
