About this event

Learn how to program mobile robots for BEST Robotics using MATLAB and Simulink through this series of six 60-minute online classes held weekly. Each class will add on to the previous week’s lesson, so it’s recommended to attend all 6 classes. Time will be provided after each lesson for Q&A. All are welcome to attend—no experience with MATLAB or Simulink are required.

Topics covered:

Class 1 (May 24th):

  • Introduction to programming using MATLAB
  • Programming basic robot movements

Class 2 (May31st):

  • Introduction to robot simulations using Simulink
  • Programming interactive robot controls

Class 3 (June 7th):

  • Using a distance sensor for autonomy
  • Hardward basics
  • Hardware demo- proportional motor control during obstacle detection

Class 4 (June 14th):

  • Creating custom functionality
  • Hardware demo - External mode Robot Sensors & Actuators

Class 5 (June 21st):

  • Task sequencing with flow diagrams using Stateflow
  • Hardware demo- IR sensor line follower

Class 6 (June 28th):

  • Programming of maze-solving robots
  • Hands-on programming task
