Held annually on the first Saturday in March, the Parade has grown to being the largest one-day event in Old Town Alexandria. Featuring pipe bands, Irish dance schools, community groups, and a host of other musicians and performers, it is a fantastic day to spend with family or friends.

For over 40 years, the Ballyshaners have been pleased to provide Alexandrians with the finest Irish celebrations. While we were unable to hold our traditional St. Patrick's Day parade last in 2022, join us March 4th, 2023, as our parade steps out once again!

PLEASE NOTE - YOUR RESERVATON IS AN APPLICATION TO PARTICIPATE. IF YOU ARE SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE, THE BALLYSHANERS ASK A $25 TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION FOR NON-COMMERCIAL UNITS, AND REQUIRE A $250 FEE FROM COMMERCIAL UNITS. DETAILS WILL BE PROVIDED IN AN EMAIL IF YOU ARE ACCEPTED!

If you love our parade, please consider donating time or money to the cause! Attend a fundraiser or volunteer--we always need help planning and staffing the parade and our annual Irish Festival. There's no membership fee, and we hold monthly meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 pm, with weekly meetings in the two months preceding our parade. Our parades typically cost tens of thousands of dollars and require months of careful planning, and the past two years have been difficult for our members, sponsors, and local businesses.
