Join the Havre de Grace Colored School Museum and Cultural Center, Inc. for the 6th Annual Arts, Wine, Jazz & Soul Festival on Saturday, August 12, 2023. The event will take place at a new location along the beautiful Susquehanna River!

NEW Location: Concord Point Lighthouse, 700 Concord Point, Havre de Grace, MD 21078.

Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the music, wine, food, scenery, and fun.

Enjoy local vendors, spectacular jazz and soul artists, phenomenal food, wines, and spirits, and a majestic view of the Susquehanna River unsurpassed in beauty. All the proceeds benefit the Havre de Grace Colored School Museum and Cultural Center.

Tickets are limited and we encourage purchasing in advance the discounted Early Bird Tickets.

Chandra and the Ryze Band

The event will feature an encore performance of Chandra and the Ryze Band. Chandra and the Ryze Band are an integral part of the festival and their soulful sound has energized and invigorated onlookers for the last six years. Their dynamic style is guaranteed to have festival attendees out of their seats and dancing to their unique sound and energy.

Saxl Rose

Antonio Hancock, professionally known as Saxl Rose, is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, recording artist and international touring musician based out of Havre de Grace, Maryland. He has recorded and performed with numerous mainstream artists and bands including Wiz Khalifa, Chris Brown, Paramore, Jojo, Bobby Valentino, Neck Deep and more.

Howard Brooks FuNkYfOoT Productions /CAFE' RED

Howard "Funkyfoot" Brooks is one of Baltimore's funkiest pocket drummers. His pocket of funky melodic grooves and presences sets him apart. Touring in Germany with Jazz/Funk band Private Clubs fueled his passion. Most notably, he performed and shared the stage with Erykah Badu, Groove Stu, Julius Bloom, Laughing Colors, Soft Tones, Freddie Jackson, Tony Terry, Ashford & Simpson, Bobby Womack, The Whispers, and many, many more talented artist. He is a seasoned concert and touring drummer for over 20 years and has set the role of Musical Director on various projects.

 Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Anyone can attend the event; however, anyone participating in wine tasting events must be 21 years or older with a valid ID.

 What can I bring to the event?

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the music, wine, food, scenery, and fun.  

What is NOT allowed at the event?

Pets, pop-up tents, beach umbrellas, coolers, outside food and alcohol. *Sealed bottles are allowed

 Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Tickets are transferable.  The name on the ticket does not have to match.

Is there a rain date?

The event is rain or shine and tickets are non-refundable.

Our new venue is larger and showcases one of the best venues Havre de Grace has to offer. This waterfront festival has unrestricted views of the beautiful, majestic Susquehanna River.

About the organizer

The Havre de Grace Colored School Museum and Cultural Center, Inc. (HCSMCC) is a 501 (c)(3) non- profit organization. The goal is “to remember, promote and preserve the rich history and legacy of the Havre de Grace Colored School.”

The Colored School holds a special distinction as the first public high school for African American students in Harford County. The former Colored School is now a museum and cultural center. The (HCSMCC), Inc. is devoted to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture in Harford County, Maryland. The 110-year-old Colored School provides an opportunity for those who are interested in African American culture to explore and revel in this history through exhibits and historical displays. It helps all Americans see how their stories, their histories, and their cultures are shaped and informed by national influences. It explores the cultural and civil context and many aspects of American life while displaying how American values like resiliency and optimism are reflected in African American history and culture. In keeping with its 110-year-old history, the former Colored School continues to serve as a gathering place for the community to hold meetings and special events.
