About this event
Women On Waves Surf Contest (W.O.W.) is an amateur longboard surfing event that showcases the talent and athleticism of local women in the Santa Cruz County community. It is a fundraising event that promotes women's participation, of all ages, in the sport of surfing and recently we added the Open Water Swim category.
Participants can register to both, Surf Contest and OWS. These events won't overlap.

Welcome to Women on Waves 2022!
We are thrilled to be back, not one, but TWO days! (Gasp) That means, more time to surf & swim, more time to laugh, more participants to meet (we love making new friends), more hours to soak in all the good vibes from the female surfing and swimming community. Capitola Beach here we come!
Our theme for this year is Sea Happiness. We selected this theme to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and the therapeutic benefits we all get back from the ocean. We want to create awareness amongst ourselves and for others to always be fully present and absorb all the joy and peace we feel when surrounded by water. Thank you Ocean!
