About this event

The 2022 Victim Justice Symposium, held October 10-11 in downtown Des Moines, will provide education and resources to victim advocates, law enforcement, medical personnel, prosecutors and all other professionals working with victims of crime. This bienniel event brings national and state experts together around the latest information and best practices in victimization, response and healing for all victims of crime.

Keynote Speakers currently include:

  • Kelly Stoner, previous Judge for the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, currently Victim Service Victim Advocacy Legal Specialist for the Tribal Law and Policy Institute.
  • Alicia Nichols and Dave Keck, National Resource Center on Domestic Violence and Firearms; and
  • Laurie Owen, Director, Group Violence Intervention; National Network for Safe Communities.

What is the cost to attend the Symposium?

  • $150 Early Bird Registration available until September 15, 2022.
  • $200 Regular Registration available until September 30, 2022.
  • $250 Vendor Fee (see below for additional details)

Are scholarships available for this event?

A limited number of scholarships will be available for this event. The deadline for submitting scholarship applications is September 30, 2022. Are discounted hotel rooms available?

Yes, a limited number of hotel rooms are available to Symposium attendees at the discounted rate of $111.00 per night, plus applicable fees.

Are CEUs or CLEs available for this event? How do I register to receive CEUs or CLEs?

We plan to apply for CEUs and CLEs and update the registration page once they are approved.

Is same-day registration available for this event?

No. Only pre-registered attendees will be able to attend the event.

If I register and then my plans change, can I request a refund?

Refund requests will be accepted through the registration period ending September 30, 2022. Any Eventbrite processing fees associated with order cancellation will be the responsibility of the registrant.

Can I pay a discounted price if I wish to send more than one person from my agency/organization?

No. Unfortunately we are unable to offer group discounts to attend the Symposium.

Is there a discounted price for early registration?

Yes. Early registration discounts ($150/ticket) will be available until September 15, 2022. Any tickets purchased after this time will be full price ($200/ticket).

Can I pay a discounted price if I only wish to attend one day of the event?

No. The price for the symposium will remain the same whether you attend one or both days of the event.

When will registration for this event close?

Early registration will close on September 15, 2022. General Registration will close on September 30, 2022. Please keep in mind that these dates may change if capacity for the event is met.

Are vendor tables available for this event?

Yes. Vendor tables are available for this event. The vendor fee of $250.00 includes registration and meals for one person plus the tabling fee. If you are a for-profit organization and would like a vendor table for our symposium, please register using the vendor registration ticket. Non-profit organizations may be able to waive the vendor fee. If you are a non-profit organization and are already registered for the Symposium, please contact Joe Campos at joe.campos@ag.iowa.gov

I have special dietary restrictions, will these be accommodated during meals?

Yes. If you have any special dietary restrictions please mark your dietary needs in your registration form.

Will I be able to request translation or interpretation services for this event?

Yes. If you are in need of translation services for any/all of the conference, please mark this in your registration form.

Will an agenda be available before the conference?
