Since 1963, the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities has presented Humanitarian Awards annually.

About this event

Since 1963, the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities has presented Humanitarian Awards annually to honor individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to the promotion of respect and understanding among people of diverse racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. On occasion, local corporations or organizations are recognized with the Distinguished Merit Citation Award for their efforts in making Virginia’s communities more inclusive. 

This event has 2 options for attendance - Reception & Watch Party or Virtual (at home). The reception and watch party takes place at the Newport News Marriott at City Center starting at 6pm for a limited number of guests. At 6:30pm, the presentation will be shown on screens at the hotel and virtually online. All those in attendance will be required to present proof of vaccination, and we ask that all be wearing masks as possible.

Organizer of 2022 VCIC Peninsula Humanitarian Awards Presentation

The Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities works with schools, businesses, and communities to achieve success by addressing prejudices, in all forms, in order to approve academic achievement, increase workplace productivity, and enhance local trust. Through workshops, retreats, and customized programs that raise knowledge, motivation, and skills, VCIC develops leaders who work together to achieve success throughout the Commonwealth. 


The Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization under the IRS tax code.

A financial statement is available upon written request, from the Commonwealth of Virginia, Office of Consumer Affairs.
