About this event

The Pennsylvania Governor’s Office of Homeland Security (GOHS), in partnership with three Intermediate Units across Pennsylvania (Allegheny, the Capital Area, and Montgomery County), cordially invites you to attend our regional School Safety Conferences this fall, focused on Averting Targeted Violence at Schools through Mental Health Supports and Building a Culture of Belonging.

Please join us for this free, one-day event, at Normandy Farm Hotel and Conference Center, on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, with special keynote speaker, Mr. Eric Garner, head of the Digital Video Production Academy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Mr. Garner will graciously share his experience from the February 14, 2018, mass school shooting, as well as his experience working in Miami-Dade County on their Emergency Response Team.

We will also hear important messages from the Federal Bureau of Investigation on their Threat Assessment and Threat Management work throughout the Commonwealth; the Pennsylvania State Police, Heritage Affairs Section on Hate Crimes in Pennsylvania; the U.S. Secret Service’s National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) on Averting Targeted Violence; and a very timely, and poignant presentation on Building Communities of Belonging, Care, Concern, and Commitment from our three regional Intermediate Partners.
