About the 2022 New England Regional Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) Meeting hosted by the Brown University Chapter of SACNAS

June 17-18, 2022

The 2022 New England Regional SACNAS Meeting is free and open to the public. The conference serves as a professional development and networking opportunity for undergraduate students, graduate students, post-baccalaureate students, post-doctoral researchers, staff, and faculty in all STEM disciplines in the New England area.

SACNAS Regional Meetings create local opportunities for educational and career advancement, as well as a connection to SACNAS chapters across Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

The program will include keynote addresses by Dr. Kristy Red-Horse, Ph.D. and Dr. Omolola (Lola) Eniola-Adefeso, Ph.D., oral and poster presentations, professional development workshops and a graduate school and career fair.

Oral presentations are open to:

  • undergraduate students
  • graduate students
  • post-baccalaureate students
  • post-doctoral researchers
  • faculty

Poster presentations are open to:

  • undergraduate students
  • graduate students
  • post-baccalaureate students

Please complete the registration details as well as the application questions if you wish to be considered for poster or oral presentations. Presentation applications may also be updated or added to registrations by the deadlines listed.***

Deadline for Regular Poster and Oral Presentation Applications: April 30th 12:00AM EST

Deadline for Summer Research Program "Intent to Present" Registration and Poster Presentation Applications: June 4th 12:00AM EST

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling-basis. Selected general admission posters and oral presentations will be contacted no later than May 2nd. Selected summer research program posters will be contacted no later than June 5th.

Disciplines and fields represented at the conference will include, but are not limited to, public health, molecular biology, computer science, chemistry, mathematics, microbiology, immunology, evolutionary biology, geological sciences, marine biology, biomedical engineering, electrical and computer engineering, data science, and physics.

Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) is an inclusive organization dedicated to fostering the success of Latinx and Native Americans, from college students to professionals, in attaining advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership in STEM. Important Information Regarding Joint Conference Efforts

The New England Regional SACNAS Meeting will be held in conjunction with the fourth annual Dr. Samuel M. Nabrit Conference for Early Career Scholars (June 16-17th, 2022) and will share a joint session with the Nabrit Conference on the afternoon of June 17th.

New England Regional SACNAS attendees are highly encouraged to attend the 2022 Nabrit Conference.

4th annual Dr. Samuel M. Nabrit Conference for Early Career Scholars

This free conference will showcase the research achievements of outstanding molecular life scientists from historically underrepresented groups. Featuring two keynote presentations, the conference program also includes short talks for invited attendees, poster presentations, and panel events. Speakers will be selected from applicants who are senior graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and beginning faculty members or industry scientists.

The conference has been named in honor of Dr. Samuel Milton Nabrit, Brown's first African-American Ph.D. recipient and a marine biologist with a distinguished international career. Please contact smnc@brown.edu if you have questions about the conference.
