About this event
Target Audience The purpose of this Symposium is to review current topics, trends, and techniques in athletic training as well as the promotion of the practice of athletic training. This symposium is designed for athletic trainers and other health care professionals who wish to further their knowledge in the topics listed below.
Continuing Education NDATA is recognized by the Board of Certification, Inc. to offer continuing education (CE) for Certified Athletic Trainers (ATs). This program has the potential of 7 hours of Category A CEs. ATs are responsible for claiming only those hours actually spent participating in CE activity.

5:30 - 7:00 pm The ABCs of FAI (Femoral Acetabular Impingement and "other" hip pain in athletes - Dr. Noonan MD, - Essential - II, III
Objectives:
- Participants will be able to understand the anatomy, diagnosis, and treatment of FAI.
- Participants will be able to understand the anatomy of Core muscle injury or “sports hernia.
- Participants will be able to differentiate between “internal” and “external” snapping hip.
- Participants will be able to describe the pathology of hip “micro-instability” and dysplasia.

Objectives:
- Participants will understand imaging techniques used in musculoskeletal imaging
- Participants will understand basic and Advanced anatomy for athletic trainers
- Participants will identify when it is indicated to image pediatric patients with concussions.
- Participants will identify common musculoskeletal injuries in radiology.

Objectives:
- Identify the risks and benefits of caffeine and other commonly used supplements.
- Identify the risks and benefits of popular supplements among niche groups.
- Understand the role of supplementation among active individuals and be able to summarize the safety and effectiveness of supplements.

Objectives:
- Participants will explain current research related to substance use and athletes.
- Participants will recall current evidence-based effects of substances on the physical and mental health of athletes.
- Participants will utilize components of the SBIRT model when responding to athlete substance abuse.
