Event description
Registration for the 2022 El Alto Mountain Bike Camp.

About this event

The El Alto Camp is a five-day mountain bike camp, from June 25-29, 2022, at Curt Gowdy State Park for co-ed students in grades 9 through 12 for the 2022-23 school year. Students will arrive at noon on Saturday June 25 and depart at 3 PM on Wednesday June 29.

There are TWO tracks to this camp. Students can sign up for a SKILLS focused track that is similar to the Stone Temple camp or they can sign up for a RACE focused track. For details on the skills focused track and camp director information, please reference the Stone Temple camp information on the website.

The race focused track will emphasize taking your racing to the next level! This will include developing fitness, racing skills, knowledge of your body and how to train it for success, including:

* Education on racing, training, recovery, and nutrition.

  1. Field testing to set Heart Rate Zones.
  2. How to train smart using HR training.
  3. Pre-race planning and race strategies.
  4. Recovery and Nutrition, how to successfully prepare your body to race.
  5. The physiology of training zones and how to implement them in your own training.
  6. Mental preparation for competition.

* Bike Handling Skills: Gowdy is a great place to develop your skills and have fun!

* Increase student’s self-confidence using the mountain bike as a tool for challenging fun self-discovery.

Students in both tracks will be attending education sessions on racing, training, recovery, nutrition, psychological preparation and how all these fit together for success. Additional education sessions on bike maintenance, environmental and trail ethics, trail design-construction-maintenance, nutrition, and first aid may also be provided.

Students will stay at Hynd’s Lodge or camp nearby. Ride sessions will be on the IMBA Epic Trails at Curt Gowdy State Park, the surrounding roads, and Happy Jack. Food will be provided from dinner on June 25 through lunch on June 29. There will be a minimum of one adult leader per five students. Optional evening activities may include campfire, star gazing, evening hikes, and mountain bike related presentations.

* Scholarships are available. Please contact us at rich@wyomtbcamps.org if you need to apply for a scholarship based on financial need. A limited number of full and partial scholarships will be available.

COVID-19 Statement

The Covid-19 epidemic continues to be a fluctuating situation and we will update our Covid policy as warranted.

Our primary concern is for the safety and welfare of all camp attendees. Our Covid policy and any updates have been and will continue to be made in coordination with members of the medical community and comply with Wyoming and CDC requirements. We are encouraging all camp attendees (adult volunteers and students) to be vaccinated for Covid. If you are vaccinated, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination to complete check-in, or if you are not vaccinated you will be required to provide a negative test result within 72 hours of attending the camp. Please understand Covid is a constantly changing situation and flexibility will be key for all planning.

As noted, we are trying very hard to keep the camps and plans on schedule. If you’re interested in signing up for any of the camps, you are encouraged to follow the registration instructions (open 5 PM on Tuesday February 15, 2022) and register for all camps you are interested in attending. If you have comments during the registration process, please utilize that section of the form.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any information, questions, or concerns.

Thanks for understanding.

Sincerely,

Todd Thibodeau

Refund Policy

If Wyoming Mountain Bike Camps, Inc. (WYMTB) is required to cancel one or more of the mountain bike camps, students for those camps will receive a 100% refund. Eventbrite "Event" cancellation policy states: "If an event is cancelled or postponed, refunds will be for the entire purchase—that includes the ticket price and the Eventbrite fees."

If a student is unable to attend the camp for any reason (i.e., injury, positive test for or exposure to another person testing positive for Covid-19, etc.) and cancellation occurs on or before May 31st (the final day of registration), then the refund options are:

1. WYMTB will provide a 50% refund of the total registration cost (Eventbrite fees + taxes + our registration)*; or

2. You may use 100% of the camp fee towards another 2022 camp, if any opening remain available; or

3. WYMTB will defer 100% of the camp fee to a 2023 camp.

* If WYMTB is able to fill the vacated registration spot with another student, we will refund 100% of the camp registration fee cost, minus the Eventbrite fees.
