PARADE UNIT APPLICATION

Saturday, December 3, 2022 | 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Thank you for your interest in being part of Alexandria’s biggest holiday weekend on Saturday, December 3, 2022. The festivities start in the morning with the Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk Parade processing through Old Town's historic streets, continues with dockside festivities, the Torpedo Factory Art Center's Holiday Festival, and culminates with the Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights cruising past the waterfront.

Visit Alexandria is proud to partner with Campagna Center and the City of Alexandria on the production of this year’s parade. A beloved holiday tradition for over 50 years, the Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk Parade steps off at 11 a.m. in Old Town Alexandria south of King Street, continues north of King Street and concludes by the iconic City Hall and Market Square. The spirit of the parade is to celebrate the holiday season, Scottish heritage, and Alexandria’s entire community.

Please read through the Participation Guidelines and details below as some requests and procedures are new this year. All groups and organizations interested in walking, driving or performing along the parade route must submit an application no later than November 1, 2022.

APPLICATION

An application to participate in the parade must be submitted for your group to be considered for the parade.

Early Registration Deadline: Monday, October 17, 2022

Final Registration Deadline: Tuesday, November 1, 2022

• Priority will be given to Scottish pipe bands and clans, past participants, and content that enhances the parade viewing experience.
• The submission of an application does NOT guarantee participation. For purposes of timing, safety and programming, there is a limit on the number of groups that can participate.
• Parade unit applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until capacity has been reached.
• Once submissions have been reviewed, applicants will be notified about the status of participation. All parade units will be notified about participation by within two weeks of application submission.

Parade producers reserve the right to make decisions about participation. The Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk Parade is a non-political event. Organizations or groups with causes that are viewed through political or advocacy prisms are not permitted in the parade.

APPLICATION FEE

• All parade units must pay the application fee with the submission of their application. If your parade application is accepted, there are no additional registration fees.
• $75 Early Application Fee (until October 17, 2022)
• $125 Application Fee (October 18 - November 1, 2022)
• Any groups in need of financial assistance with the application fee should contact alxscottishwalk@visitalexva.com before submitting an application.
• The application fee is non-refundable.
