About this event

The winter 2021 photo class will be focusing on Color and Contrast: How to take your photos from ordinary to stunning by getting the most from the colors and shapes in your subject.

The class will include examples by professional photographers, opportunities to experiment with techniques in class for instant review and feedback, and a weekly photo shoot assignment where you hone your skills to a new level with input from the class and instructor. Lessons include maximizing natural light, using artificial light, camera positioning and framing for maximum impact, and software photo processing.

Students will provide their own equipment and the lessons will be tailored to get the most from their cameras, whether DSLR or phone camera. No special equipment is required.

Students will help pick the best photos from the class to be included in a printed photo book they will all receive at the end of class. Instructor Merrick Vincent Dupea has been a professional photographer and video producer since the 1980s, and has been an instructor with Arivva for two years.

Arivva’s classes are offered at no cost to students or their families. Scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursday from 2pm-4pm beginning on Feb 2nd and running through Feb 11th. New and returning students are welcome—join us regardless of your skill level!
