Event description
50+ presentations on clothing buttons—introductory & advanced educational topics plus creative activities. Adults and juniors welcome!

About this event

The National Button Society (NBS) offers something for every button enthusiast—novice or expert, young or old, analytical or creative! Review seven days of presentations and jump on board this year’s online button train! Juniors are encouraged to join any activities of interest!

Start by getting a Zoom tutorial if you need online confidence.

The Button University series offers foundational sessions from the history of buttons, to identification, care, organization, preservation and the enjoyment of buttons on display.

Educational and entertaining button presentations will take us from the flowing Art Nouveau movement, through railroad uniform buttons, the New England textile industry, buttons that imitated the fabrics they adorned, Burwood buttons of the 1930s, the sporting lifestyle of the British gentry, and the colorful innovations of polyester. Buttons take us into every corner of our history.

If you are feeling creative join a workshop to make a button train, angel, bracelet, tree, necklace, rooster, barrettes and pins.

Also included is a fantastic button auction managed by Armchair Auctions. Proceeds benefit the National Button Society.

If you enjoy the many button opportunities, please donate to NBS via the NBS website store. We look forward to seeing you July 25-31!
