Taught by calligrapher Christen Turney, you’ll learn to write the basic strokes, minuscule and majuscule (or, lowercase and uppercase) alphabets and numbers in this classic pointed pen script. Copperplate calligraphy is perfect for wedding invitations, signs, cards, envelopes, framed quotes and more. You’ll become familiar with the tools and tricks of the trade, experiment with different types of ink and nibs, practice layout and stringing together words and sentences and learn terminology that will help you progress in this art. This class is meant to be taken live, but if you miss a week, you can catch up on the recording.

This class is great for calligraphy beginners as well as those who have a little experience with pointed pen and want to finesse their work and learn more structured writing.

NOTE: If you are left handed, it may take you a little longer to find your groove with calligraphy. This does NOT mean you cannot excel in calligraphy, it just may take you a little longer than others in the class. Technology requirements: Computer with internet access and web cam, Google account (email address at gmail.com), scanner or camera phone (you will need to submit photos or scans of your homework pages), camera phone or digital camera (there are a few recommended homework assignments where you share a photo or video of yourself writing so I can check for posture, pen positioning, etc.)

Classroom access: Supply list is available below or at alloccodesign.com/classes. Class handouts and access to the online classroom will be available by January 9. You will have access to the classroom and recorded versions of the class through May 31, 2021.
