About this event

You are cordially invited to attend the 2021 Hunger Leadership Awards!

Each year, the Hunger Leadership Awards brings together leaders from government, philanthropy, the private sector, and the wider anti-hunger community to recognize exemplary leaders in the fight to end hunger, including members of Congress, corporate citizens, community leaders, and outstanding alums from the Hunger Center’s fellowship programs whose vision and commitment are paving the way to achieving zero hunger, both in the U.S. and around the world. This year’s theme is Leadership Matters, because hunger is solvable but not without bold and effective leadership.

Founded in 1993 by a bipartisan group of Members of Congress, the Congressional Hunger Center fights hunger by developing leaders and advocating for public policies that will create a food secure world. Through its through its Bill Emerson National Hunger Fellowship, Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellowship, Zero Hunger Internship, and online learning hub Zero Hunger Academy, the Hunger Center has trained more than 1,000 leaders working across the private, public, and nonprofit sectors toward a day when all people have access to affordable, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food.

This is a widely attended event. Special thank you to PepsiCo, General Mills and all our award sponsors and individual donors for making this celebration possible!

Stay tuned for information to come on this years award recipients and how you can be involved in the virtual ceremony.

About the organizer

The Congressional Hunger Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that works to make issues of domestic and international hunger a priority to policymakers in the U.S. government, and to raise a new generation of leaders to fight against hunger and poverty.

Our mission is to train and inspire leaders who work to end hunger, and to advocate public policies that create a food secure world. We strive to be a leader in the movement to ensure access to food as a basic human right for all people. We create and nurture a community of innovative and inspiring leaders who act as change agents, bridging the gap between grassroots efforts and national and international public policy to provide access to nutritious, affordable and culturally appropriate food.

We accomplish this mission through our advocacy, policy and coalition work, and our leadership development programs; the Bill Emerson National Hunger Fellowship Program, the Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellowship Program, and the Zero Hunger Internship.
