2021 GRIP Virtual Lecture Series!

About this Event

The Greater Reading Immigration Project is excited to announce an online lecture series in 2021. Join us on Zoom as we learn together about the challenges surrounding immigration in our community. All presentations will begin at 7:00 and end by 8:30 PM. Zoom link will be emailed a day before or day of event. All are welcome.

  1. January 19From ‘invisible’ undocumented immigrant to loud, proud advocate. Presenter: Pennsylvania’s Second Lady, Gisele Fetterman
  2. February 9 – Updates on DACA status, travel bans, and refugee quotas. Presenter: Sundrop Carter - Exec. Director PA Immigration and Citizenship Coalition
  3. February 23 – Changes in U.S. Immigration Policies from 1965 through Today. Presenter: Elizabeth Kiester, Ph.D. Assoc. Professor, Albright College
  4. March 9 – Detention of migrant children at the Border & Reuniting Migrant Children with Family. Presenters: Judith Bernstein Baker, Esq. & Sara Patschke, Exec. Director Bethany Children’s Home
  5. March 23 – College Affordability for Undocumented Students. Presenter: Tanya I. Garcia, Ph.D., Pennsylvania Acting Deputy Secretary and Commissioner for Postsecondary and Higher Education
  6. April 20 – Immigration Status Challenges for Communities in SE Pennsylvania. Presenters: Albright research project presented by Jennifer Vasquez, a Political Science major, with her advisor, Dr. Elizabeth Kiester

There is no registration fee for these events but donations are encouraged.
