About this event
Registration will open at 9:00 AM on Friday, September 10.
The Interpreters Conference will offer breakout workshop beginning at 9:45 AM on Friday.
The first session for the Deaf Leaders Conference will be offered at 1:00 PM.
RID approved CEUs will be offered for all Interpreter sessions. Nebraska Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing will be our RID sponsor for CEUs. CEUs are pending approval, but if you attend every available opportunity, it is anticipated that 2.15 CEUs can be earned.
The Jubilee celebrating 50 years of ministry for Deaf Missions and the completion of the ASLV in 2020, will be included in the registration fee for both conferences.
Other meals included for both conferences will be a box lunch on Friday, and a dinner theater on Sunday, as well as a late lunch at Deaf Missions on Monday for those who choose to stay and tour Deaf Missions.
Please consider choosing to stay at one of the two conference hotels - both attached to the LaVista Conference Center -- The Embassy Suites (book online) and the Courtyard by Marriott (book online). Additional information can be found on the Deaf Missions website or on the Deaf Missions Facebook page.
Rough draft schedules can be found for each conference on the Deaf Missions website.
Sunday morning we will enjoy a worship service together that will be free of charge and open to the public.
Announcements about the conference and up-to-date information will be on the Deaf Missions Facebook page and the website. Also watch for information in the eNews.
To interpret at either conference, please see the "Interpreters Application" on this registration site.
Students wanting to serve as volunteer conference staff, see the "Student Ambassador Application" on this registration site.
Those wanting to bring a group of 5 or more should contact Angie Mathis at angiemathis@deafmissions.com
While attendees for each conference can choose to attend sessions at the other conference, it is expected that Deaf Leaders will primarily choose sessions that are part of the Deaf Leaders Conference and that Interpreters will primarily choose sessions that are part of the Interpreters Conference. Likewise, it is expected that Interpreters will register for the Interpreters Conference, not the Deaf Leaders Conference. While both are professional conferences, the rates for each meet industry "norms" and the interpreters will have more breakout sessions and CEUs will be offered.
Deaf Missions and the LaVista Conference Center will be monitoring the state of the pandemic and will have in place systems for social distancing and more based on current events, CDC guidelines, and the Omaha Health Department. We are prayerfully hopeful that we will be able to meet in person with some "normality", however we are already discussing Plan B if the conditions of the country dictate it is not safe to gather.
For more information you can contact Angie Mathis at angiemathis@deafmissions.com or angie@jamathis.com or you may call or text 918-724-7075 (please leave a message.)
Cancellation/Refund Policy: If a registrant is unable to attend, a full refund less 10% can be requested in writing up to 21 days prior to the first day of the conference. Registrations are transferable! In the unlikely event of dire or unforeseen circumstances (such as a natural disaster or national emergency) Deaf Missions reserves the right to cancel the conference. Deaf Missions will communicate any decision to cancel with those who have registered and will refund all registration fees in full.
