Event Information
About this event
Contributions to the WAAL Educational Foundation supports WAAL's mission of diversifying the legal profession through programming, continuing legal education seminars, pro bono clinics, community involvement activities, and more. The Foundation also supports the annual VelanDale Scholarship Dinner, where we honor the legacy of Vel and Dale Phillips, and celebrate the accomplishments of Wisconsin lawyers and law students. Each year, we award four law students from the University of Wisconsin Law School and Marquette University Law School with the VelanDale Scholarship Awards, the Honorable Maxine A. White Book Scholarship Award, and the Honorable Charles N. Clevert, Jr. Scholarship Award.
501(c)(3) Status: In July 2002, the WAAL Educational Foundation was recognized as exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The organization is also classified as a public charity under section 509(a)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Therefore contributions to WAAL Educational Foundation are deductible under section 170 of the Code, and the organization is qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under section 2055, 2106 or 2522 of the Internal Revenue code.
