Description

2020PLUS CIVIC & BUSINESS LEADERS EVENT ABERDEEN

The 2020Plus Civic and Business Leaders Event is part of an international project, bringing together senior leaders across all sectors of society to shape the future for the common good. In 2018, King’s Community Foundation, hosted the first 2020Plus Event in Aberdeen with the theme of Innovation 2025. The event helped civic leaders in business, government, education, third sector and many more areas, identify challenges to future growth and opportunities for engagement with the next generation.

In 2019, keynote speaker Mal Fletcher will be returning to Aberdeen to speak on the theme of Cultures of Confidence 2030. In the coming decade, businesses and regions that prosper will be those that foster micro-cultures of confident risk taking, while encouraging city-wide ecosystems of innovation. This will require leaders of major business and civic enterprises to act as cultural architects. The session will identify the philosophy and skill sets that will drive cultures in which risk-taking and ideas-generation are the norm.

The morning will consist of two sessions, beginning with a keynote delivered by, social futurist Mal Fletcher. The second session will also feature an extended interview and a Q&A time with a panel of respected Aberdeen-based leaders who have invested heavily in cultural change. Special contributors include Councillor Jenny Laing, joint leader of the city council and Russell Borthwick Chief Executive of Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce. This session will place the theme in a localised context and discuss how we as leaders can shape our city to stand at the proactive forefront of change.
