Creating space for conversations around diversity, inclusion, & belonging.

About this Event

A person's definition of belonging comes from their own experiences. Working in the Child Welfare field helps us to recognize that children and families in the foster care system are often caught between worlds and do not always feel included. As a child welfare practitioner, researcher, or advocate, it is essential that we learn more about diverse experiences and gain knowledge about all the people involved in the process, including foster parents, biological parents, caseworkers, child advocates, and our children. It is for this reason that we are focusing on giving everyone a seat at the table in child welfare at the 2020 UT Child Welfare Conference, hosted by the Texas Institute for Child & Family Wellbeing.

What to expect at the 2020 UT Child Welfare Conference:

Who Attends: For the past 6 years, 150-200 local child welfare practitioners, researchers, and advocates have joined us for our annual conference.

What: The conference offers high-quality professional development workshops throughout the day after the conference keynote session.

When: Friday, February 28th, 2020, registration opens at 8am, conference is from 9am-4:30pm

Where: Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center 4801 La Crosse Ave. Austin TX, 78739

Price: Early Bird: $50 | After February 14th: $65

CEUs: The Steve Hicks School of Social Work Office of Professional Development at the University of Texas at Austin grants Continuing Education Hours to the Texas Institute for Child & Family Wellbeing workshops, courses, and educational programs that meet the criteria established by Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners, Texas State Board of Professional Counselors, and Texas State Boards of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists. These educational hours may then be submitted by professionals to meet continuing education requirements for Social Work, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist license renewal.
