About this Event

Overview

This year's Annual State-Based 2020 Uniform Data System (UDS) Training will be held , virtually, December 1-4, 2020. This three-day online training will cover the preparation of the 2020 Uniform Data System (UDS Report). Participants should plan to attend all sessions for a full and comprehensive understanding of the complete UDS report.

The training addresses each of the report's tables, including a discussion of the changes that have been made and the definitions necessary to complete the Report. The UDS training is aimed at those who are responsible for gathering and reporting the data elements included in the UDS Report, as well as management and clinical staff who need to understand the definitions and concepts used, and those who use the data in their program management and quality improvement activities.

Intended Audience: Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Quality Improvement (QI/QA), Physicians, Contracts/Grant Writing, Performance Improvement, and IT/HIT professionals. UDS training is designed as an all-levels program; all staff is welcomed to attend. There are no prerequisites for this training, and no advanced preparation required for the training.

Objectives

Over the course of three days, participants will:

  • Understand the who, what, when, where, and how of UDS reporting;
  • Discuss common reporting errors;
  • Gain an understanding of reporting the UDS including; the patient profile, reporting clinical services and quality of care indicators, operational and financial tables, and other required UDS reporting forms;
  • Learn about the new measures and requirements included in 2020 reporting;
  • Review key resources and supports available; and
  • Learn tips for success including strategies for submission.

Speaker Highlights

Priscilla Davis

Priscilla Davis, MHA is a consultant for John Snow, Inc. (JSI) with over 20 experience supporting health centers with their annual UDS reporting requirement. In addition to being a trainer, she is a UDS reviewer and part of the support team at JSI, providing one-on-one technical assistance on all aspects of UDS reporting requirements. She is JSI’s program manager for the Bureau of Health Workforce grantees UDS requirement and managed past UDS reporting initiatives for the Urban Indian Health Program and the National Health Service Corps. She also conducts trainings on how to use the UDS as a management tool. In addition to UDS-related work, she has worked with Rural Health Clinics in various states, establishing and supporting RHC Technical Assistance Networks. She also works as a validator conducting audits of healthcare associated infection reporting based on CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Net (NHSN) standards.
