Event description
A nonpartisan conference educating Texas college students and administrators about best practices in civic engagement spaces.

About this Event

After much consideration, the Texas Voting Summit will be moved online. All Texas schools are invited and there is no limit on the number of students from each school who can attend.

The summit will be from 11 am to 2 pm on

  • Friday August 14 (Texas Voting Summit)
  • Saturday, August 15 (Texas Voting Summit)
  • Saturday, August 22 (Bonus Advocacy Day)

The Texas Voting Summit is hosted by TX Votes in partnership with the Annette Strauss Institute, Campus Vote Project, and Campus Compact. Students, faculty, and administrators from Texas colleges and universities will attend the summit to learn how to best approach civic participation in the time of COVID-19.

The Texas Voting Summit will feature the following opportunities:

  • Voter Registration and Election Process Panels
  • Instruction on best practices for voter education
  • Connections to the voter registration tools and networks, such as the National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement (NSLVE), the Strengthening American Democracy action plan template, the Voter Friendly Campus Designation, and the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge
  • Unlocking future funding for nonpartisan civic engagement activities for Fall 2020 on your campus.

Join us for the 3rd day of the Texas Voting Summit, hosted by Texas Rising. The third day is focused on advocacy during COVID-19. We hope to inspire and teach how to digitally organize and transition your action plans to virtual, conduct meetings with elected officials, and come together for a strategy session to plan for future advocacy efforts.

The first 50 students who RSVP and then attend the August 14th and 15th dates will receive a Texas Voting Surprise! (Surprise will be announced closer to the start of the Summit.)

The Texas Voting Summit is a free event, meaning there is no conference fee for invited students.
