About this Event

Please join us for our annual Severe Weather Safety and Spotter Training Class. The training will be provided by Tim Halbach. Tim is the Warning Coordination Meteorologist (WCM) for the National Weather Service (NWS) at the Milwaukee/Sullivan office. Tim has been in the NWS for 15 years and previously had worked in Washington D.C,, Chicago and La Crosse, WI offices. Originally from Fond du Lac, WI, Tim witnessed the 1996 Oakfield F5 tornado from his driveway which sparked his interest in weather.

SKYWARN® storm spotters are part of the ranks of citizens who form the Nation's first line of defense against severe weather. Individuals affiliated with hospitals, schools, churches, nursing homes or who have a responsibility for protecting others are encouraged to become a spotter. During this free two hour seminar, you will learn what to report, when to report, and how to report severe weather information. The seminar will also feature visual descriptions of severe weather that spotters may encounter while observing as well as severe weather safety.
