2020 Sakura Matsuri - Japanese Street Festival
Event Information
Description
Dear Sakura Matsuri Supporters,
Pertaining to the press release (www.sakuramatsuri.org), we are sharing the disappointing news that we are officially postponing, pending further notice, our Sakura Matsuri - Japanese Street Festival. This is a painful decision, but one that we feel is absolutely necessary.
On March 11, the District of Columbia declared A State of Emergency and recommends that“non-essential mass gatherings” of 1,000 people or more before March 31 to be cancelled/postponed. Although the Matsuri is outside this date window, safety of you and all the attendees at the Sakura Matsuri is our number one priority, so we are complying with these guidelines.
Please note that the 60th Anniversary of the Sakura Matsuri (measured by number of Matsuris, not number of years since the first one) is postponed, not cancelled. Therefore, the 60th Anniversary Sakura Matsuri WILL happen, and it will be a celebration- and you will be sure to hear from us when we know the rescheduled date is. We very much hope that you will be able to be part of it.
If you have already purchased a ticket, it will be honored when the Sakura Matsuri is rescheduled. So please stay tuned for the announcement.
Thank you for your continued support for the Sakura Matsuri! We look forward to seeing you in the near future.
With appreciation,
Sakura Matsuri Team
