Event description
The Pittsburgh Recovery Walk celebrates the many roads to recovery from addiction and all those who travel them.

About this Event

The Pittsburgh Recovery Walk celebrates the many roads to recovery from addiction and all those who travel them. It aims to dispel negative stigma associated with addiction and to recognize recovery as a positive force in our community.

The 2020 Recovery Walk takes place in September as part of National Recovery Month.

When? The Pittsburgh Recovery Walk will take place on Saturday September 19, 2020 from 8:30 am - 1:00 pm. Streets will be closed at 10:30 am and the Walk will begin at 11 am.

Who? The Pittsburgh Recovery Walk is free and open to the public. Everyone whose life has been touched by addiction or recovery is invited to join our celebration.

Where? The Pittsburgh Recovery Walk will take place at 11th and Waterfront (just north of Smallman St. in the Strip District) where there will be a Recovery Expo loaded with activities, speakers, entertainment, and food trucks. The Walk will proceed down Penn Avenue to 7th Street and down the Riverfront Trail back to 11th and Waterfront.

Why? Addiction affects everyone – but so does recovery.

FAQs

How do I get a t-shirt?

T-shirts will be distributed at the registration table at 11th and Waterfront Place. Just show up!

How much does it cost to participate?

This entire event is completely free.

I would like to register a group. Can I do that, or does each person need to register individually?

You are welcome to register a group. We know that many community-based organizations want to bring lots of folks, so it's simpler to register under your company name (e.g., "POWER") than worry about individual registrations. To register your group, click the "Team" option after you click "Register." This allows you to set up a named team. You can either add group members as you continue through the registration process or later send people emails inviting them to register themselves.

If you encounter any difficulties, contact us directly at info@pghrecoverywalk.org.

Do I have to register in advance?

Advance registration for our September 19 Recovery Walk is not required, but it is encouraged. Register to stay updated on the day’s events, help us estimate how many t-shirts to bring, and learn about volunteer and outreach opportunities.

Do I have to register at all?

Registration is not mandatory! Feel free to join us downtown on September 19, even if you prefer not to register. We appreciate registrants because it helps us anticipate the size of the event. But it's not required.

Can I make a financial gift to support the walk?

YES! Thank you for your support of this event. To make a donation, please visit pghrecoverywalk.org/donate. If your company would like to sponsor the event or host a tent, please contact Jessica Williams at 412-258-8561 or jessica@ireta.org.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Carpool and public transportation is encouraged. Downtown parking lots and metered street parking will be available. Find more information (and a map of the walk route) on our website.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

Water and coffee will be available to participants at no cost. Bring some pocket money to buy lunch from various food trucks.

How can I volunteer?

Please volunteer with us! There are numerous opportunities to help out, both day-of and in advance. Email info@pghrecoverywalk.org if you're interested.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Email info@pghrecoverywalk.org with any other questions.
