Event description
The Nexus of Higher Education and the Workforce

About this Event

Peirce College’s 2020 Executive Leadership Breakfast has been rescheduled for Wednesday, June 17 at the Hamilton Garden at the Kimmel Center in Center City Philadelphia from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m.

The decision to change the date of the event was made out of a recognition of the serious public health situation facing Philadelphia and our commitment to safety and helping to reduce the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) within our community.

This year’s event will focus on how to best leverage higher education and market-driven training and development to better prepare Philadelphia’s workforce and accelerate economic mobility in the city.

To be an official sponsor of the event, please visit the 2020 Executive Leadership Breakfast Sponsorship Opportunities.

Panel Discussion

Our panel discussion, moderated by Sheila Ireland, Executive Director of Philadelphia’s Office of Workforce Development, will bring together important voices to share insights, challenge assumptions and discuss collaborations and solutions for the city. Confirmed panelists include:

  • Lisa Gauthier, Council Member and Former Mayor of East Palo Alto, Ca., and Working Scholars Graduate
  • Trinity Thorpe-Lubneuski, Senior Director of Program Administration for Internet Essentials at Comcast
  • Tammy Pollard, Director of Corporate Learning and Organizational Development at AmeriHealth Caritas
  • Jeff Hornstein, Executive Director, The Economy League of Greater Philadelphia

Trailblazers in Transformation Awards

Peirce College created the Trailblazers in Transformation award to recognize extraordinary students and alumni who embody the College’s spirit of innovation through their academic, professional and personal achievements. We are honored to present the inaugural Trailblazer in Transformation Awards at the Executive Leadership Breakfast to two remarkable individuals:

  • DIANA KIRKLAND ’14, ’16: Diana is a US Navy veteran who overcame addiction and other challenges to advance her career and her life. She earned both her associates and bachelor’s degrees in Paralegal Studies from Peirce College as a proud mother of six. Today, Diana serves as a Legal Administrative Specialist with the regional office of the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs in Philadelphia, where she helps veterans and their family members access and understand their veteran benefits.
  • JOSH SLOCUM ’20: Josh is a Cloud Desk Agent for Comcast, where he helps small and midsize companies with software solutions. He is also enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree program at Peirce College and is expected to be part of Peirce’s Class of 2020. Josh’s main inspiration for managing a full time career while advancing his education is to keep a promise he made to his parents, and to remain focused on becoming a great leader.
