1. Define 3 purposes of the Minimum Date Set.

2. Understand the basic principle of the Patient Driven Payment Model.

3. List 3 conditions/deficits you strive to capture for reimbursement that could negatively impact your QMs.

Cannabis Use in Senior Living: Where we are and Where we are going

1. Explain the history of CBD and hemp.

2. Discuss cannabis-based approved medications in the US.

3. Explore the marketing and efficacy of CBD.

4. Discuss the legality of the use of CBD in the nation.

5. Understand the status of medical marijuana laws in the US.

6. Learn how providers can address potential CBD and marijuana use in their communities.

Detecting and Deterring Diversion

1.Understand the risks and safety issues associated with diversion.

2. Be aware of the warning signs for diversion.

3. Know how to prevent diversion within your facility.

4. Execute prompt diversion detection.

5. Understand the proper internal and external response to a diversion incident.

Pharmacologic Management of Cognitive, Behavioral, & Psychiatric Symptoms in Dementia

1. Know when implementation of pharmacologic treatment strategies are appropriate.

2. Understand which medication classes are recommended for which behaviors.

3. Be aware of the risks associated with pharmacologic management of BPSD.

Non-Pharmacologic Management of Cognitive, Behavioral, & Psychiatric Symptoms in Dementia

Speaker Bios:




Rosanna Benbow, RN, CCM, CIC, DNS-CT, RAC-CT, MDS Consultant

Rosie has extensive experience in roles such as Certified Nurses Aid, Medical Records, MDS Coordinator, Director of Nursing, Case Mix Auditor, MDS Consultant and Managed Care Specialist.
Rosie is a Registered Nurse with 20 years experience in LTC. She is certified as a Resident Assessment Coordinator and Director of Nursing Services through AANAC/AADNS. She is also a Certified InterACT Champion and Certified Case Manager. She is seasoned in teaching accurate assessment in accordance with the CMS RAI Manual, managing Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement for up to 20 Skilled Nursing Facilities in Indiana/Florida, and coordinating Managed Care relations/contracts.



Rob Leffler, RPh, Vice President of Clinical Operations

Rob Leffler is the Vice President of Clinical Services for PCA Pharmacy, a long-term care pharmacy that serves over 33,000 residents in 12 states. Rob graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Butler University. He has spent the majority of his career in long-term care as a consultant pharmacist, running long-term care pharmacies and leading clinical teams in the care of residents. Rob has spoken for many LTC health care organizations at their live meetings and through webinars. He has also been a member of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists for 25 years and serves on their Board of Directors as the Midwest Representative.



Dewayne Reneer, RN, Nurse Consultant

I attended the University of Indiana, University of Evansville, and Eastern Kentucky University. I received my nursing degree from the University of Kentucky in 1988. I worked in the Emergency Room and IV Department at Deconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana and from there to Oncology IV Therapy Home Health. I have been working in Long Term Care Pharmacy for the last 28 years as a Pharmacy Manager, CNO, and Nurse Consultant. I am a member of INS.


Erin DuPrae, OTR/L, DCCT, Clinical Support Specialist

Erin DuPrae has worked in skilled nursing and long term care for 20 years with 14 years spent in management and as a clinician at the facility level. After graduating from Eastern Michigan University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy, Erin has always enjoyed working with the geriatric population. Her efforts were directed toward returning each individual to his/her prior level of function, while incorporating humor and fun to improve quality of life. Erin joined Paragon Rehabilitation's clinical support team in May 2015. She earned her certification as a Dementia Capable Care Instructor in 2016 and as a Dementia Capable Care Therapist (DCCT) in 2018. Erin supports therapy teams to assure compliance with documentation, to educate therapists of Medicare regulations, and to share her clinical knowledge. As a seasoned clinician with hands on experience working with people with dementia, and through professional growth and continuing education in the study of dementia and related disorders, Erin can provide insight for positive outcomes and increased quality care.
