Event description

Description

As mandated by the U.S. Constitution, our nation gets just one chance each decade to count its population. The U.S. census counts every resident in the United States. It is mandated by Article I, Section 2 of the Constitution and takes place every 10 years. The data collected by the 2020 census will determine the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives (a process called apportionment) and also the distribution of trillions in federal funds to local communities.

Next Saturday November 16th is the National Urban League of Young Professional's (NULYP) 2019 National Day of Empowerment (NDOE). The focus of #NDOE2019 is providing public education and awareness about the 2020 Census.

Join the Metropolitan Board of the Chicago Urban League for this community leadership workshop & brunch, as we work to ensure that our communities receive their fair share of nearly $1 Trillion in federal funding!

During this empowerment brunch attendees will:

- Learn about the impact of the 2020 Census on government, businesses and individuals

- Develop innovative strategies to reach more residents of hard-to-count tracts
