We are proud to partner with the Maryland 4-H Youth Development Program on this series. Learn more about their program below.

The Maryland 4-H Youth Development Program provides a supportive and inclusive setting for all youth to reach their fullest potential in a diverse society. Youth learn beneficial and cognitive life skills through community focused, research-based experiential education programs.

Maryland 4-H aspires to be a recognized leading youth development program that inspires youth and adults to learn, grow and work together as a catalyst for positive change. Maryland 4-H has five major Program Committees which serve to identify goals and actions to achieve the Maryland 4-H Program mission, vision, and core program components.

More specifically, the Maryland 4-H Horse Program offers many different opportunities for all youth to participate in a variety of horse related activities throughout the year. These activities include but are not limited to, Hippology (The study of the Horse); Horse Bowl (Similar to Jeopardy!); Horse Judging, Horse Communications; Webinar Series, Clinics, Industry Partners, and the State 4-H Horse and Pony show! Youth develop competencies in equine science, including an understanding of equine sciences and management as well as an awareness of agricultural issues in society (e.g. a concern for animal well being and increasing public agricultural literacy.)
