The 2020 Brighton Dance Festival has moved to a virtual platform! Join us online for workshops, discussions and performances - Aug. 3-8!

About this Event

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Brighton Dance Festival has canceled all in-person programming. To stay connected with our community, we have created some exciting virtual content to keep you moving, thinking and inspired! Join us online August 3-8, 2020 for daily movement classes, happy hour chats, and performance streaming! Open to people of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels. Tickets are offered on a sliding scale to help accommodate those who have been impacted financially due to the current economic crisis. Choose a pre-designated amount, or pay-what-you-can with a donation of any amount.

All ticket buyers will receive FULL access the to Brighton Dance Festival virtual programming, including all class sessions and happy hour chats.

Teacher Development Day & Screen Dance Workshop must be added on to your order to receive access to these bonus courses.

You need to make a donation of at least $1 to process your registration. If you are not able to make an online payment at this time, please contact us at info@brightondancefestival.com and we will get you registered. No one will be turned away due to financial hardship or payment restrictions.

Brighton Dance Festival - Technique Classes

Monday-Friday, August 3-7, 2020

12:00pm-1:30pm EST Daily

Taught by a rotation of our esteemed professional faculty members from around the globe. Designed for experienced dancers ages 13+ (but open to all who want to experience the classes). These classes will be taught via Zoom Video Conferencing to offer a private classroom setting, and real-time feedback and interaction with other students and faculty. A full schedule is available on our website. Class links will be sent each morning during the week.

Brighton Dance Festival - Youth Classes

Monday/Wednesday/Friday ONLY - August 3, 5, 7, 2020

2:00pm-2:45pm EST Daily

Esteemed youth educator Nia Silao will lead three inspiring movement classes for dancers ages 8+. Classes include "Jazz Dancing Through the Times", Improvisation Techniques, and Tap Dance. These classes will be taught via Zoom Video Conferencing to offer a private classroom setting, and real-time feedback and interaction with other students and faculty. Brighton Dance Festival - Instagram Live Jam Sessions

Monday-Friday, August 3-7, 2020

3:00pm-3:45pm EST Daily

Taught by a rotation of our esteemed professional faculty members from around the globe. Designed for anyone and everyone! These classes will be taught on our Instagram Live story feed @brightondancefestival and offer a perfect chance for an afternoon movement jam session in your livingroom!

Brighton Dance Festival - Dance Teacher Development Seminar

9:00am-6:00pm EST Tuesday Only

Facilitated by Megan Drabant and Kathy King. A day full of continuing education in topics including dancer health and wellness, conditioning and recovery, business development, and safe practices in the dance studio. Open to dance educators ages 18+.

Brighton Dance Festival - Screen Dance Workshop

Thursday, August 6, 2020

10:00am-11:30am EST Thursday Only

Taught by Katie Phelan, director of 16:9 Dance (@16x9dance). Participants will learn choreography, workshop movement, discuss videography techniques and record movement via Zoom. Participants will receive a copy of finished screen dance upon post-production completion for personal use; e.g. dance reels, social media & sharing with friends and family. Open to experienced dancers ages 14+

You must add on "Screen Dance Workshop" when purchasing your ticket to register for this event! Only 20 spots available. Please only register if you plan to participate.

Brighton Dance Festival - Happy Hour Chats

Monday-Friday, August 3-7, 2020

5:00pm-6:00pm EST Daily

Moderated by BDF Director Kathy King, this is your opportunity to grab a beverage, log on, and dig deep with several of our BDF faculty members and guest artists. Each day will cover a different topic, including how to build healthy habits, coping as an artist through tough times, career pathways in the arts, and so much more. Suggested for people of all backgrounds ages 16+
